Rank Tracking is one process used in SEO Optimization: it analyzes where your site is ranked on search engines according to the keyword or term entered by users. (For more information on SEO Optimization, see “What is Rank Tracker? and why should you do your rank tracking with it ” .) Obviously you want your site to be ‘highly ranked’; that is, appear on or as close as possible to the search engine’s first page of results for the keyword entered. (It’s common knowledge that most users type in a term, hit enter, and scan the first page of results only. They click on what is there: obviously, that’s where your site needs to be.)

Take our site, 02Geek.com. We offer training and certain tools to enhance training or aid sites in making income. If a user is interested in “developer basics,” that is exactly what they’ll type into Google. 02Geek.com. As of the time of this blog is ranked third on Google’s first page for developer basics (hey, it’s an excellent course for new or experienced developers to learn basic building blocks of any language: operators, conditionals, functions, objects and more!)

How did we manage to be ranked third??? Usually it takes up to three hours a day – and we mean EVERY day – to attain ratings that great. Who has that kind of time? We’re developing new tutorials every day, finding new products to help our users, working with writers… we certainly don’t have the time. We bet you don’t either. Wouldn’t you love to have your site listed with similar rankings!

It’s ridiculously simple: we discovered a product called “Rank Tracker“.

Who needs to monitor their ranking?

Do you have a site where you sell services or products? Or even a community that you’d like to grow much, much bigger?

Easy answer >  YES you do.

What else can Rank Tracker do for you? Automatically check your search engine rankings, see if they’ve gone up or down, and many other features discussed on What is Rank Tracker?.

The heart of this tool isn’t your company’s strategy. It’s more of a way to alert you when things you are doing are either damaging or improving your listings. Our site is of value to you,  as we never do dirty tricks, but give the best value for users’ web searches. We find that Google “respects us more”. Usually when we push a new page live we know the value the word or search term we most care about that users think is associated to that page. We find that within a week or less – at this stage –  we get to the top 10 results without the need to hire external 3rd party people. Third parties tend to do more damage than good to our community. instead we keep it in-house and use tools to help us ensure that we are communicating nicely with the search engine world. Really important in this day and age is that content cannot be only the best for your users, but also built in a structure that enables search engines to understand what your content is. Referring to and why you should be in the top 10 on Google.

How hard is it to automate Rank Tracking ?

Sit right back and you’ll hear a tale… oh, sorry… was in a  Gilligan’s Island mode for a second … now it will remain there for days! Setting up Rank Tracker to do your rank tracking tasks is as easy as Gilligan’s arrival on that island. Here’s exactly how we did it (minus the Professor and MaryAnn – sorry):

  1. Type in your site
  2. Pick search engines to use (out of 700+ national and international search engines!)
  3. Enter your keywords (one per line: or copy in your entire list.) You can use an unlimited number of keywords without violating any search engine’s rules.

Your part of the job is now almost done – believe it or not. Go walk the dog. When you return all your keywords will have been accurately checked.

Read those results carefully. Same thing manually would have taken at least 3 hours!

  1. One last task we had to do: set up the Scheduler! Two notes here:
    a). Set “Recurring” to “weekly”
b). Leave “Run missed tasks immediately” checked – this will ensure that this task is run ASAP if it missed being run for whatever reason.

For a bit of extra fun, add a competitor’s site and keywords –  let Rank Tracker loose! We know that we will find this very useful. Larger companies have a lot more money to do what we only do in our spare time. Why not peek at what they’re doing for FREE ?
