The new features of the software are still rolling out. Some of the promised features sound really promising. As new updates arrive we will continue and expand on the information we are getting. We where promised to get a copy to play with in the next few days so we can’t wait to get our hands on it! Its really one of my favorite editing tools and now with the addition of basic sound editing i’m so so happy as that will cut off the need for me to send the video through a sound editing tool to balance the sound and get rid of extra sounds. – lets hope can’t wait to get my hands on it!
TeleStream ScreenFlow 4 adds a host of powerful new editing features that let you easily add effects that enhance the clarity and visual appeal of your videos. Until Now ScreenFlow with its really amazing capabilities was very lacking on the part of panning and zooming ( we got away with it with sharp cuts and turns – it looks ok but now we can’t wait to get our hands on some quick simple more engaging animations).
Chroma Key Support – Switching Backgrounds
Chroma key support there is just no better way to say this but wow – this is exactly what I was waiting for for a while now. As we have a very cluterly office and sometimes its not even an office. I was going to invest into a good green screen but now I know i’m going to need to invest into it sooner then later so I can upgrade our overall video experiences. With this new addition you can Replace your green (or any color) background with your own video or still image background. – So far untested but we will post a new post once we get our hands on the new update to play with it.
Core image video and audio filters
Until now what you got was what you had to work with. In ScreenFlow 3 we could switch colors around but that’s as far as it got with these new features we can add advanced color manipulation to help our videos go more pro then ever before. With this new feature we can now add effects to videos, images and even audio!
The Video effects include advanced color adjustments, distortion effects, blurring, alpha mask, color effects, and more. In many ways its not totally new but reorganized and expanded to make life easier – and we like anything and everything that makes life easier.
In the audio department the Audio effects include EQ, multiband compression, peak limiting, delay and more. We are hoping that in that more there will be some light level control over noise reduction and amplifying/normalizing the sound – but sounds like a great huge leap. Amazing.
Improved Timelines
TeleStream ScreenFlow 4 introduces a new feature that was long awaited and needed. Now you can group up elements together and treat them together. If you’ve worked with Adobe Flash the idea is very similar to the way MovieClips are grouped together. If you have no idea what i’m talking about lets explain it in more details. You can now group up multiple elements into a single nested clip on the timeline. This enables you to access and edit the nested content in a separate tabbed timeline(by that ignoring all the rest of the project while you are working on this segment). This in turn enables you to treat the full group as one element and by that enables you to add filters and video actions directly to the nested clips as a way to join content.
Media Organized Better
With smarter media comes smarter media management with new tools to improve the capability of having many files in the project. A new search functionality introduced into the Library makes it a braze to find specific clips. New filtering and sorting capabilities such as sorting by type, duration or by name. Change the view of the files and in general a more natural way to review library elements.
One of the best features is that if you select a clip it will show you where its being used on the timeline. This way you will not delete something you are actually working with and it makes it easier to find the location of the element on the time line.
Closed Caption support
Add, edit and publish ADA compliant soft subtitles as caption tracks to your MPEG-4 movies and YouTube videos and publish them right away from within the tool. Create captions in multiple languages and Export captions as an SRT file.
